Warm Sophisticated

Warmth and sophisticated comfort are the words that come to mind when one steps into the show house at Fernvale Road by interior design firm, D’Trenzo. Neatly trimmed with grey brown and white, the living room boasts of Swedish-styled minimalism as seen by the geometrically inspired partition of wood supported with finely finished metal. A small table for 4 sits by a stretch of wall made no less boring with a wooden board set against a pastel grey background, with finishing touches of cone shaped beams of light formed from the halogen lamps above.

In the main living room area, a uniquely styled soothing grey velvet couch sits as a centre piece in front of the television console. Anchored in black, the console serves to neatly organise the viewing area and audio-visual systems. The orange brown wooden backing forming neatly tiled rectangular areas add the feeling of space given the relatively small living area. Avoiding the clutter, the placement of a simple yet stylish and elegant accessory such as the lamp at the corner fills up the otherwise boring area.  Heavy curtains are used to allow for optimal viewing pleasure whatever the time of the day, avoiding the glare and reflection on the plasma TV screen.

Although small, the kitchen is both functional and strongly adherent to the overall feel of the house. There is optimal use of space and the kitchen is well designed for ease of use, with the placement of the refrigerator, sink, ovens and stoves coordinated to give an uncluttered feel. Lighting is enhanced with the use of an easy to clean silver backing behind the stove and smooth laminates on the countertop for ease of food preparation. Fuss free and yet well designed, one can envision spending time whipping up sumptuous meals for family and friends in this kitchen.

Taking on the darker tones of the design palette, the bathroom features dark textured walls and floor tiles. A space saving shower area with an unobtrusive showerhead provide for more movement space in this narrow bathroom. Warm lights are placed strategically over the sink and under the mirror to illuminate naturally without throwing harsh shadows while a designer faucet adds a nice finishing touch to the overall feel of the bathroom.

In a move that many would approve, all the space saved is used to carve out a walk-in wardrobe in the bedroom. Partially obscured behind tinted glass panels sits a wide wardrobe with compartments for hanging clothing and storing other items. A TV console is also cleverly built into the room to allow for a lazing around in bed tuned into the goggle box in the simple, white bed. Mildly warm and diffuse lightings top off this elegant room, giving it a soothing and relaxing feeling.

This show house is indeed a gem, showcasing the ability of the interior design firm to adapt to the conditions of the house, moulding in the functional living aspects with the fine aesthetics of modern living.
