Tired of bulky furniture, heavy upholstery and the endless effort required to maintain the same? Fret not for there are enough options of minimalist yet stylish and contemporary home décor available now! New age couples hardly have the time, energy or the space in their homes to maintain ornate, antique furniture and artifacts.

5 Simple Steps To Get That Look
1

Clear Clutter

The key lies in throwing away waste and unused items rather than holding on to them. Nothing zaps a great look like clutter.

2

Clear Surfaces

Keep surfaces and floor clear. Nothing should be stacked or stored on the floor except furniture. For floorings, opt for plain patterns in solid colors.

3

Minimal Furniture

Refrain from buying heavy furniture or upholstery: Contemporary furniture is symbolized by fewer furnishings that are smaller in size. Having floor seating and throwing in interesting cushions is a fun way to avoid cluttering the space with sofas and chairs. Buy curtains, table cloths, cushion covers and bed spreads made of organic fabrics that are lightweight, easy to wash and look great. You can make these curtains look dressy by tying them up with interesting threads or bands. You may even opt for chick looking window blinds that are available in various styles, colors and patterns.

4

Clear Walls

Limit the art work on walls and keep it simple. One or two paintings or family photographs are enough.

5

Wall Colours

Neutral, subdued colors on the walls create an illusion of space and its best to opt for them. However modern décor is not averse to bright hues and you may go ahead and unleash your creativity to paint the kitchen yellow or your bedroom a bright pink. Check with your spouse though!

Once you’ve added your own personal touch to give your house that minimalist yet trendy look sit back and enjoy your work! To make a great house, you don’t need to spend big bucks. An eye for detail, a dash of creativity and of course dollops of love will do the trick!
